Long Weekend in Chicago
or

So, How Do You Know Louise?

...Continued

Crow and I spent the day with my friend Brian Adkins, whom I've known
since 1999 through New Works Review, an online literary magazine I founded
and have nurtured for several years.  Brian eventually replaced me as the
magazine's editor and publisher, but due to the demands of his day job,
he had to curtail his involvement but not his interest. This was our first
face to face meeting.

Brian, whose background is in the humanities, knew of my interest in
genealogy, so the three of us visited The Newberry Library, and caught up
with the morning tour. It was inspiring. We left there later that morning,
and Crow and I sat in the park across the street while Brian fed the parking
meter a couple of blocks away.

That afternoon, Crow and Brian went to the annual Printer's Row Book Fair, in Chicago's South Loop, while I caught up on some much needed rest.

On Saturday night, Brian took us to a wonderful Indian restaurant — South
Indian menu, Crow determined — and we had delicious and ample servings of things
I had no idea as to what they were, but enjoyed them anyway! After dinner, we
walked back towards the hotel and decided to have a nightcap and listen to music
at the Piano Bar. A perfect way to finish a perfect day.
