Long Weekend in Chicago
or

So, How Do You Know Louise?
from Lucia Crocheron Greer
Photos from Crow Evans and Louise Haack

Louise--always the gracious hostess.

That was the introductory question when we all met the weekend of June 4-6, 2004 in Chicago. I met Louise at Western High School, Washington, D.C. in 1942m the only semester I attended the school. We lost touch but about five years ago I did an Internet hunt and located her.

Generally, we --Chia & Associates -- are on top of news about those we love and honor; but it's taken all these months for me to let go and and add this sad news. Lucia (Crocheron) Greer. Good-bye, old friend.

Friday, June 4, 2004

We, my daughter Crow J. Evans, and I, aka Chia Greer, arrived in Chicago from Arkansas the afternoon of Friday, June 4th.

Aarriving in Chicago.

The vuew frin iyr riin,
From our room on the 6th floor at the Red Roof Inn.

The Red Roof Inn was the hotel suggested and we found it nestled among many tall buildings in what I believe is the loop. The Inn is near the Magnificent Mile (North of "The Loop". which is south of the Chicago River). The Mag Mile (click to see map of the area) along Michigan Avenue from the River north to East Lake Shore Drive.

We had a telephone call in mid-afternoon from Renee Henry who was staying there, too. She directed us to the restaurant around the corner:t Coco Pazzo. After unpacking we set out for the place, a most charming Italian street cafe amid trees in full bloom, tables and chairs on the sidewalk. We went inside and found the party beginning at the bar, We then joined the others at a large table reserved for the event. The food was exceptional!
