Sam Eskin
in Woodstock, N.Y.
The following is our portfolio of pictures
and other items which we feel are well representative of the Sam Eskin
in Woodstock whom we knew for almost 30 years. Most of these
pictures are from the collection of Stanley and Otho Eskin.

This is such a familiar greeting of welcome that we all remember
upon arriving for a
gathering at Sam Eskin's remarkable home (a remodeled llama barn on
the mountainside in Woodstock, NY).

Three generational reunion.: L to R- Sam's son, Otho Eskin, Sam's
father,
Morris Eskin, Sam's other son, Stanley Eskin, and Sam. Summer,
1950.

Sam Eskin and his childhood friend, Clayton Gentry from Baltimore
whom Sam always called "Charlie". Taken about 1958.

A typical pose for Sam who was a voracious reader and diligent researcher.
Woodstock, late 1960s.
Sam, a consumate entertainer, couldn't turn down the chance to dress
as a farmer, put on a false beard, at theWoodstock, NY Playhouse Theatre
about 1950.
(We're still researching a playbill from this event.)
Sam's kitchen was a dream to work in -- and, as an excellent cook,
he loved to prepare huge and generous meals for his guests. Picture
taken in late 1950s or early 1960s.
.."Here, give it to me, let me fill it for you...."
Picture from the collection of Sam Eskin's letters, songs, records,
at The Smithsonian Institution Center for Folklife Programs and Cultural
Studies Archive.
