January 2006

This issue carries the photography and narrative of Annette and Timothy Healy -- their Roman Holiday. Tim is editor of lit-zine New Works Review the on line magazine from which Passport Journal grew. More than one hundred photographs (and their enlargements) are within this gigantic journal-- the largest we have produced to date~

New things are happening in Passport Journal with this first issue of 2006. Charles P. Ries makes his debut appearance in PJ with a review and presentation of the poetry of Michael Krieisel, and three other reviews.

Pat Billings makes a re-appearance with her Florida Journal. The second part of her Florida Journal will appear in Volume 11. AND she is leaving soon on her next trip -- around the world in eighty days! She has promised us her journal for that, too.

The long-awaited Letters Home of Dr. Lincoln B. Hale begin in this issue -- part I of III. Hale (1898-1958) was the cousin of editor-founder Lucia C. Greer. We are excited to present these first hand accounts of the early days of Israel.

Poet Christina Pacosz' work appears in Passport Journal for the first time. We welcome her and hope she joins us again in the future.

In this issue the fourth and final Part of Co-Editor Deborah Taylor's Journey Home . Her pictures and her narrative make you want to visit Alaska soon.

We introduce the work of Lois B. Heaton, whom we think of as the Grandma Moses of Poetry. Even many in her family were unaware of her writing. It is an inspiration.

Almost last, but not least, is the return of Raymond D. Waier sharing another of his essays that make you think and reminisce. Recently, Dr. Waier told us that one of his novels is being accepted by a southern publisher. We don't have all the particulars, yet, but hope he will consider us as an outlet for a chapbook. We will keep you posted.

Judy G. Wlash has returned with her exciting journal Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu which will be on line on or before January 10th. The delay was caused by your editors, not the author! Her photography is fantastic!

Two unique elements of being published in Passport Journal are (1) every writer keeps his or her copyright, and (2) every issue stays on line for ever -- or for as long as we have a presence on the web. We have found no other publication to offer the same.

We invite every reader to drop us a note. Write us what you want in your Passport Journal. Sometimes we feel we are operating in a vacuum.
